Unit 3 Outcome 3 KNow how to gain employment in a creative Media Industry

Know how to gain employment in a creative media industry

For this final outcome you will be looking at gaining employment in the creative media industry. You will produce a detailed prezi and then present individually to your teacher.

1. You need to choose one job area to research from. Your choices are: TV, Advertising or Gaming.

2. The first part of your prezzi will be labelled Skills and qualifications. You will need to research and then put on your blog the following things: 'The routes into media jobs... are there jobs in media you can do from school, after college getting your BTEC or after obtaining a degree?' If that's the case provide examples and evidence for this (links to websites etc). Look at careers services and anywhere where there might be jobs advertised. The Guardian jobs website is a good start.

3. Continue with your prezi and now put another heading called 'Transferable Skills'  here you will need to think about what personal skills you would need to work in Media for example commitment, efficiency, reliability, punctuality. What key skills might you need in English and Maths?

4. Lastly on your prezzi you need to have a heading called 'Methods of recruitment' in this part of the prezi you need to think about where jobs are advertised and how you might get a job so look for examples in the newspapers / websites, think about how it might be easy to get a job through personal contacts, internal promotion, word of mouth.

Remember, to get Distinction in this unit you must have good examples that you have found and support your work.

This Friday you will present this information on your own to your teacher who will mark you on your quality of communication and content of your prezi.
